Prom - [Second Time]

You might wonder why I call this the second time I've written about Prom, but hey - read the previous posts, buddy. This not all that pulchritudinous site swallowed my last post about the topic, so here I go again. Usually I wouldn't care if it was just a "I had a great day dissecting pigs"-posting, but here we're talking Prom, after all. And then some extra energy can be justifyably spent.

The Prom date of mine was Jana, a friend I met first in California last fall and then in Las Vegas in April. We had agreed to meet for our pre-Prom activities at noon, but as it turned out she was half an hour late. That's okay, I mean I really don't care about tardiness all that much. Anyhow, she arrived at 12:30 at the White Mountain Family Fun Park, and we were supposed to go go-karting first and then to a movie, but since the time-schedule was totally outta wack I had to do some improv. Off to a movie.

We went to see the new Scooby Doo movie, the sequel that is, and found it actually to be better than the original. Yes, that doesn't happen very often, but it did. The second one far outweighed the first. It was fun, we laughed and had a great time, and then we were picked up by Ren afterwards.

We were dropped off at the WMFFP, and had a blast with two rounds of go-karts and one of miniature golf. Considering the limited choices up here, I think that was a good pre-date date. The schedule held up by a couple of minutes, 'cause by the time we finished the 18th hole Jana's aunt came to pick her up. She went back home to Snowflake to change and dress up for the evening.

We (my hostmom Ren and I) picked her up at 6:30 that evening, and I gave her the corsage I had bought the night before. I wore a black mafia-suit with a hat and the whole thing, while she wore a greenish dress.

Me and Jana posing for one of our Prom pictures at home.

We drove to Pinetop, where we dined at a very nice restaurant called the Phineas T's at 7:00. We left the restaurant after the long-lasting dinner at 8:45 ca, and drove to the Torreon country club where the dance was going to be.

Torreon was a fancy, nice place. The door was opened for us by a middle-aged man, and we entered the foyer. We paid the entrance fee for the dance, and met all the people I knew there from school. We continued past a big fireplace and had our picture taken, me in my Zoot Suit and her in the light green dress of hers (the picture turned out nice, by the way, even though I never like pictures if I am in them)...

We sat down at a table, met up with people I knew, and after a while danced some. The dance floor was packed, and it wasn't exactly big, so we were stacked close to other people, dancing in our little circle. I'm not the biggest fan of dancing (or dances in general), but this dance had a kind of mandatory "must-dance" feel to it, after all it was Prom, so I indulged Jana whenever she wanted to dance. Between dances we went out in the foyer for a glass of juice or whatever, and talked to others who had taken a break from the dancefloor, like Colin and Adam, two of my friends who was there.

The time flew, we had a lot of fun, and it was soon time for the last dance. At 12:00 the dance ended, and we collected our parting gifts (a Prom mug and an alarmclock). We left the dance, drove Jana back to Snowflake, and went back home. I went to bed at about 01:00, honestly content with my first (and last) Prom.
